Mike,
'curious george' here... but how do the new shocks improve the X -
can you 'splain it to this ol'e simple suthener ?

I have an '03 4x4 so I have to think about letting the new ones wear out a bit before I swap, but if it's a great improvement I might consider it ...
Thanks in advance !

Mike, thanks! I'll check around and if I can't find a decent deal, I'll let you know.

the new shocks stabalize the X at higher speeds, cornering is much better, took 75 percent of the front end bounce out,and the ride is terrific.now, there are some great shocks out there that will do the same thing, but at what price?i think the Monroes are the best bang for the buck.

When you said "the ride is terrific" can you explain a little more. I am looking for a good set of shocks for my X, but I don't want something that will be "stiff" or tough. I do a combination of off-roading and pavement driving, so I need something that will be able to compensate for both venues. My younger brother said something about adjustable shocks. When reading through this forum, this is the first time I had heard of these shocks.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

these Monroe Reflex shocks are slightly firm for normal driving(i like how they make my X handle)and they eliminated the front pogo stick effect nicely.

I got the Rancho steering stablizer part# 5404 and bolted right on.
I got them from http://www.samsoffroad.com/samsoffroadsto/index.html

Yeah, those are the ones I was thinking of getting since they are currently onsale. The Reflex ones are about the same price at $37 for front and $38 for the rear.

How do you like the stablizer?

Over the weekend, my husband was driving the F250 and hit a rather large "pothole", got airborne and came down hard. I think it broke a shock, so it gets new ones first. But any input is appreciated.

the stabalizer got rid of the wandering the X did before the switch. It took a day or two to get the feel for it but nice, I think it was like 34 bucks
