Unbolt the shock from the axle housing.

Locate the two bolts at the top of the shock -- these will need to be unbolted in order to remove the shock.

You will need to use an extension on your ratching. The space is really tight to fit your hand and a ratchet to unbolt the shocks.

This is what the factory shock looks like when it's unbolted from the vehicle. You will need to remove the bottom mount from it and install it on the new shock.

Install the bottom mount on the shock. If you are installing Rancho RS9000's or any other type of adjustable shock, make sure you mount your dials appropriately where you can reach them from underneath the vehicle. I kept mine facing the rear.

Reinstall the shocks and the rear sway bar. This can be done with one person and is fairly easy to install. I would recommend mounting the shocks at the top first, then mounting the bottoms of the shocks to the axle housing with the sway bar attach...

I have since sold the Alpine in-dash DVD player. I now use a portable DVD player or a laptop computer for DVD playback. The brain on the CVA-1005 miraculously fits in the dashboard of the Excursion. This makes for easy hooking up of other devices ...
