Poor, tired 302 minus intake, valve covers, and valvetrain.

Passenger side of block, with head gasket still in place. Both block drain plugs were stripped, so we had to drain the water jackets by siphoning through a lower head bolt hole -- hence the coolant in the #4 cylinder, which leaked in as we were taking the head off.

Driver's side, gasket stuck to head instead. Notice the huge baked-on carbon deposits up in the lifter valley in this shot and the last -- up to 1" thick in places. I won't be able to get the #6 exhaust lifter out without chiseling off carbon above it.

Driver's side head, w/ gasket. Check out all the beautiful carbon buildup in the combustion chambers.

I love all the semi-solidified sludge in the manifold bolt pockets. Three out of four were full. No idea how -- this should be a sealed-off pocket, as far as I know.

The only casting numbers I could find *anywhere* on these heads. At least they match.

Cleaning the lifter valley, firedeck, and pistons.

Looks a heck of a lot better now, huh?

Rockers and pushrods. Check. New gaskets and seals. Check. No more foul goop. Check.

Lower manifold and freshened injectors with fuel rail.

Valve covers, plug wires, and ready to sit until it can go back in.
