Driven on 1 tank for a few years, then abandoned when the 2nd tank gave out. Given to another owner who planned to fix it, but abandoned it in the woods for a few years. Given to a 3rd owner who planned to fix it, but abandoned it in the woods for a few years. Sold to me. I drove it home before stripping it down for thorough repairs. Then Frank bought it while his '75 Bronco was getting some P&B repairs. Later, it became his sons' first vehicle.
Now, it's mine again, with USB power/voltmeter on the dash, 2KW inverter, 5 new 235/75R15 Cooper AT3 tires with internal TPMS, reman head, low-profile across-the-bed tool box, K&N drop-in, most lights LED, DOT-legal projector 1-piece headlight housings, Kenwood KDC-X998, EasyLift tailgate assist, & more. |

This modern graphite combination gasket is the only exhaust gasket I'd use on any Ford engine.

While doing some other work, I noticed the RHF wheel was VERY loose. It turns out the lower ball joint was installed with the wrong nut (castellations too short), which meant that the cotter pin didn't touch the nut, or prevent it from turning. Over ...

The boots are shot, but the tie rod ends are still tight & smooth, so I swapped on some Energy 9.13101G polyurethane boots, and then greased them.

It's running rough (probably because of the old gas, and some sludge still in the lifters), but it smooths out at speed, which it gets up to quickly. It certainly seems to have more pep than before - I can squeal the tires even on dry pavement.

I was surprised at how much sediment was in the pan, but I guess that shows 1) how well MarvelMysteryOil & Berryman's B-12 in the crankcase work, AND 2) how filthy this crankcase was.

After checking the block passages with shop air, the only thing left to restrict oil flow was the filter. Sure enough, it was utterly blocked by sludge. Even after draining for ~30 minutes, it was still more than half-full because nothing was moving ...

To temporarily (or indefinitely) run any '90-96 dual-tank truck on 1 tank, it's necessary to plug both unused tank lines & the vapor line.
I used the old rear tank plate as a blockoff for the fuel lines because it seals to the fuel lines without dam...

The windshield side & lower trim were packed with leaves. While it was off, I removed the wiper valance & emptied the cowl. It was packed, except where the squirrel living in the squirrel cage had cleaned some of them out.

Since I got the pigtail with the '93 tank, and I saved the original '95 pump plate, it was easy to make this adapter harness. Now, either style of pump can be used.

To lift the bed, loosen the clamps (8mm, 5/16") around the filler supports, then slide them outboard.

After a little driving, it became apparent that there was a serious oil leak dripping onto the rear Y-pipe from the intake heat shield. Fortunately, I had a new valve cover gasket in the junkpile.
