TSB 87-22-19 FUEL SYSTEM - TANK - "POPPING" OR "RATTLING" NOISE - VEHICLES BUILT BEFORE 02/18/87

LIGHT TRUCK: 1987 F150-350, BRONCO

ISSUE: A "popping" or "rattling" from the fuel tank area while driving on uneven roads, or when turning, may be caused by the fuel tank insulators sticking and breaking away from the steel tank.

ACTION: To correct this, install new mylar-coated fuel tank insulators which do not stick to the fuel tank. Refer to the 1987 Light Truck Shop Manual, Volume B, Section 24-50 for installation procedures. Refer to the fuel tank insulator application chart for the correct service part number.
