hey, i just sold my 92 Bronc 351W for 5G's to get out of debt and i feel as if my heart has been ripped from my chest, my baby is gone and being mistreated by someone else. But i figure life goes on. So I've been out twice, 1 to look at a 85 Chevy Blazer w/ a 305ci, 149k, real nice cond, for 1850(sorry to even mention the C word). 2. to look at a 86 Ford Bronco 302ci, 146k,ok cond. for 1400. i've had a ford my whole "driving life" which only amounts to 5 years, and im really familiar w/ the 351 and 302. EFI that is, i've never owned a carbureted truck b4. i dont know what im gonna do, bc i like to climb hills.
i would like to get a 351 again, but i cant find one anywhere near boise, idaho for the right price(under 2)(give me a email quick if u have a 351 under 2 in south idaho). will a 302 take me where i want to go, which is basically heavy duty mudding and climbing, but not extreme. Not thornbird aggressive style, but still real agressive. in other words mudd up to the frame, and hills round' 60º incline. or what mods might i need to get it the power up to 230/320 range.
i've heard carbs. flood out at anything over 45 degrees (if its rough terrain). true or false? does the edelbrock offroad carb work that well on a 302?
WHats the stock hp/tq on a 302. ive heard 180/260. dunno if its true. and if anyone knows about the 305 whats hp/tq.(i know its the wrong place to be asking about a 305)

Thanks

Smiling, Sorry about that - just had to joke a little.

Lets see now - Just the (302 CID) had 150HP/270Torq and the (302 HO) had 210HP/265Torq, So depending on which motor you get, both can meet your needs, just one will need more work then the other, I have a 302 H.O. in the shop all I did was take the heads off and cut the little tits out of the EXT. Ports and Changed the Cam - got a lot out of this little motor and then some.

Now as for EFI or Carb'ed - mmmm, I would go EFI per what you said but others like going Carb'ed, .

As for the 305 CID, I hated this motor with a passion, All of the ones I had are in a junk yard, but the 305 CID came with these #'s, 1980-87 - 150HP/240Torq, 1985-87 - 165HP/245Torq, 1984 - 134HP/319Torq, 1985-87 - 180HP/235Torq, All of which though ROD's or Had Head problems and some just over heated, You would be better off with a 350 CID Motor.
