Ford auto hubs suck, go ahead and get some warn manauls. Try shifting into 4-wheel low if you hear a clunk then your electronic shift is ok, it would prolly be the hubs.

I have both '00 Excursion as well as a '94 F150. The Excursion has automatic hubs that can also be manually engaged. I like this combination of convenience and reliability. Does anyone make aftermarket hubs for the F150 that would work like this? |

Not that I know of. Those hubs on your Excursion are cool but they don't compare to Warn manual hubs strength wise.
What vehicle are we talking about here? Electronic or manual T-case? Manual or auto hubs?

I broke down and took it to the dealer ship... they are telling me that the transfer case shift motor is bad due to bad contacts. they want $723 bucks to fix it, so i am bringing it back a 2 wheeler still!!! I am wondering if anyone knows a good place to get a new motor for the Tcase... becasue the dealership wants $436 just for that!!! ARGH.... you know 126k miles and NO problems except for these auto hubs and the auto shift for 4x4!!!!
thanks for your input... i will note that i should change the front hubs to manual.... BUT when it does work, do you know how nice it is to just flip a switch and be done with 4x4 set up... |

That sucks!
My 99 F250 can't go into four low, due to bad vacume line o-rings I guess. I replaced the factory junk or I mean lock outs with Warns 20K miles ago 174K now on truck. The dealership I called said it would cost $420 to fix the problem, $20 going towards the part and the rest towards labor!!! Four high works fine for me.
The 00 Excursion at 126K will be needing real lock outs shortly, this time it will be Warn Premiums.
Heard that the factory Ford hubs are Warn, they must be the really cheap version.
