What kind of power would a stock 1990 5.0 out of a Bronco make with 9.5 compression and an RV cam (sorry no numbers available for the cam). I believe the stock compression is 8.5 and power rating is 190hp/210ftlbs.

Thanks for any help!

What am I looking for? The increase in power I can expect from two factors (9.5 increase in compression and RV cam) based on the factory ratings of 8.5 compression and stock cam for a 1990 5.0 sitting in a Bronco. This should be quite simple; not much to read into it. My guess is 220-230 horse. Anybody?

Sorry, your right I read tooo much into it.

From experience on (unfortunately) a chevy 350

Flat top cast pistons and a 272 or 484 Crane cam
and 4.11 gears he was running 298 hp off the dyno.
cant remember the torque. This engine sucked prior
to the rebuild. He said it was well worth it.
Approx 170 hp before, 200 extra hp is in the
right range if its built right. He had a engine shop
do it.

Thanks for your replies, Pony-boy. Your guestimate on power is pretty good. I ordered a 9.5 302 with HO cam that is rated at 275hp and 300+ftlbs.

BTW, if anybody is looking for a good crate engine, check out http://www.enginefactory.com/ or http://www.fordcobraengines.com/ (same company.) They have great service and quality engines. I am very pleased with the new motor they sent to me!
