Alright, here's the thing, I found 3 ads on craigslist selling crown vics that caught my interest
The first one is a 1999 crown vic with 175,000 miles, with no mechanical issues. The seller claims it was a district attorney's car, never a cop car. The seller wants $1400
The second is a 2005 ex-taxi crown vic with 260,000 miles for $1200. This seller claims to have installed a new transmission in the vehicle.
The third and final ad has a 1996 crown vic with 150,000 miles selling for $1000. Clean inside and with claims from the seller about it having no mechanical issues whatsoever.
My question is given the info I listed of each car, is the price for each reasonable or too good to be true?
P.S. I'm new to this forum, but I would appreciate it if the sarcastic, uninformative, and/or snide replies be left out |

That sounds about right compared to my area. I bought my 99 for 1500 with 159000 but needed a little work (it is 13 years old) . I would be a little more leery of the ex-taxi as they are pounded really hard during their lifetime and unless he shows you the receipt the tranny was not replaced. |

Tbh. I already discarded the possibility of looking at the '05. But the 1996 looks tempting. This will be my first car and I've heard crown vics have a long lifespan, if properly maintained. I'll even run a vehicle history report on both, if each owner discloses their VINs which shouldn't be a problem. I'm not worried too much about horsepower and my knowledge of autos is just slightly above beginner, but I'm nowhere near clueless about cars. My older brother agreed to go with me, if I decided to take a look at the car. Would the 1996 be a wise purchase? |

the mileage is definitely low for a 96 and they do have a really long lifespan. I looked at a 96 that was in better shape cosmetically than my 99 but the check engine light was on so I passed but it was still pretty strong. |
