Tonight I did the ceremonial front of air box delete. To get the top of the air box out of the way while I worked I, of course unplugged the MAF.
Well, to make a long story short I finished the delete and re-installed everything (except for the MAF... Opps) and went for a drive. Needless to say the CEL came on but holy guacamole was there a giant increase in power, snap, and of course growl!
I reset the CEL with my scanguage and notices the intake temp, mpg and avg mpg guages still were not working so I started to think... How am I going to fix that? Then it hit me! Idiot! You never plugged the MAF back in.... So I went and plugged it back in and all scanguages were working 100% again...
BUT WAIT... All that extra power... GONE!... Well, maybe a little increase but not even close to when the MAF was unplugged.
My Vic still has the CVPI programming which I\\'m assuming is why I got the extra power as I\\'ve read on other forums people who unplug their engines run like crap.
Am I correct in assuming this? And, is there a way to get that \\"unplugged\\" power back without messing up the CEL or scanguage?
Thanks in advance.

With no way to meter incoming air, the computer might have just been dumping fuel in, definitely not something you want to do on purpose or in the long term. |

Why didn't I think of that? You have a very valid point and with the CVPI programming if won't "run like crap" by unplugging certain sensors... But, ya, dumping raw fuel into the motor ain't something I wanna do. |
