I have a 2000 250 7.3 with a Cortex superchip. runs perfect. Just got a 2001 EXC. I set the truck back to stock so I could try the superchip in my Exc to see how much better it would do before I buy one for it. Plugged it into the EXC and nothing. Did not come on. Can any one tell me what may have happened?
Do you think the EXC allready has a programmer in it? Do I take it to a Ford dealer to set it back stock? I put 2 1/4" taller tires on the Exc and it killed the take off power a little.
Thanks for any help.

not quite sure what to tell you about your chip, but check w/ the dealer.

as for your 2 1/4 inch taller tires, your solution is gear ratio change. I had 3:73 in my Ex, put 34" tires on it, and it took it out of its power band... upgraded to 4:10 gears, and she is one mean beast off the line.

I was trying to see how much the chip helped in the EXC before I bought one for it. My SuperChip lets you set your tires size also. It really helped the truck when I installed it. Thanks

Your chip will only assist in the accuracy of your speedometer due to the larger tires, it will do nothing in terms of bringing it back into its power band. gear ratio will always be gear ratio... chips do nothing but tell your vehicle's computer how to think. chips cannot increase or decrease gear ratios.
