Knowing the aftermarket gauges are WAY brighter than the stock 86 gauge cluster I wanted to be able to dim them seperately. The $3 rheostat will dim an already dimable circuit so the pillar gauges can be turned down so they don't interfere with night vision, yet I'll still be able to read the stock cluster.
