ranger 025.jpg 557 hits | 72.59 KB | Posted: 2/24/05 Stock 2.9 compressor and pulley on right, 6-groove pulley on left from an '83 Mustang w 302 (Posted in: A/C pulley)
ranger 026.jpg 497 hits | 64.81 KB | Posted: 2/24/05 Look very similar. Ranger a/c blows cold so I want to keep system intact if possible (Posted in: A/C pulley)
ranger 027.jpg 474 hits | 73.47 KB | Posted: 2/24/05 Remove center nut (Posted in: A/C pulley)
ranger 028.jpg 500 hits | 83.19 KB | Posted: 2/24/05 There should be a puller for this but a bit of prying will remove the outermost rubber surround (Posted in: A/C pulley)
ranger 029.jpg 487 hits | 88.99 KB | Posted: 2/24/05 Now remove snap ring and the pulley/bearing will slide off (Posted in: A/C pulley)
ranger 030.jpg 508 hits | 82.89 KB | Posted: 2/24/05 I didn't need to change the magnet as they looked identical but if you do there's one more larger snap ring and it will pull off (Posted in: A/C pulley)
ranger 031.jpg 593 hits | 92.32 KB | Posted: 2/24/05 Done, ready for serp (Posted in: A/C pulley)
ranger 032.jpg 671 hits | 64.57 KB | Posted: 2/24/05 The only problem is that the gap here is a little large; I can get it to engage by pushing the rubber surround back by hand, unk if it will work under normal operating conditions. The Mustang rubber sat too close, while the Ranger appears to sit too... (Posted in: A/C pulley)
ranger 040.jpg 613 hits | 75.34 KB | Posted: 2/27/05 The issue was the depth of this surface. The Ranger one placed it too far away from the pulley while the Mustang one but it right up into the pulley, defeating the clutch (Posted in: A/C pulley)
ranger 041.jpg 491 hits | 65.26 KB | Posted: 2/27/05 I was able to use the Mustang piece and just space it out with a single washer. Problem solved and it self-engages like this (Posted in: A/C pulley)
ranger 044.jpg 663 hits | 71.16 KB | Posted: 3/20/05 Rear shackles; on top, stock Ranger shackle, below is GM shackle that came with my 63" rear springs. I used the GM shackle because of the larger bushing and..... (Posted in: Rear leaf suspension)
ranger 046.jpg 621 hits | 77.98 KB | Posted: 3/20/05 ..... it's hard to make out but the GM shackle uses slightly thicker legs (Posted in: Rear leaf suspension)
ranger 047.jpg 750 hits | 81.2 KB | Posted: 3/20/05 A stock Ranger shackle is already in compression from the factory, but I figured I'd like to gain some lift by dropping the shackle a bit more. Remove the stock hanger, turn it over, and cut a hole for the shackle to drop thru. (Posted in: Rear leaf suspension)
ranger 048.jpg 586 hits | 69.31 KB | Posted: 3/20/05 like this. Of course you've weakened the hanger substantially so some sort of guessetting is required. (Posted in: Rear leaf suspension)
ranger 049.jpg 527 hits | 51.48 KB | Posted: 3/20/05 I chose to box/gusset with 2.5" square. This is yet another thing I thought might come out looking halfway professional but mostly looks booty. Regardless, it'll work for now. (Posted in: Rear leaf suspension)
ranger 052.jpg 524 hits | 61.04 KB | Posted: 3/20/05 Now, for the front hangers for the rear springs, I determined where I wanted them and found one of the stock holes would work well with this rivet (now gone) under the rear-most cab mount. This also tucks the hanger up higher than putting it in fron... (Posted in: Rear leaf suspension)
ranger 053.jpg 588 hits | 65.25 KB | Posted: 3/20/05 The hanger would need to bolt on an uneven area of frame here, so I welded in some scrap and ground smooth (Posted in: Rear leaf suspension)
ranger 056.jpg 645 hits | 71.34 KB | Posted: 3/20/05 Rear/rear hanger installed (Posted in: Rear leaf suspension)
ranger 054.jpg 545 hits | 63.39 KB | Posted: 3/20/05 there's the idea (yeah, I cut the stock hanger some) (Posted in: Rear leaf suspension)
ranger 055.jpg 568 hits | 75.08 KB | Posted: 3/20/05 Done. If I decide three bolts isn't sufficient I'll weld it the frame, but I suspect it'll be fine. (Posted in: Rear leaf suspension)
ranger 057.jpg 586 hits | 61.93 KB | Posted: 3/21/05 Right side 63" Chevy installed (Posted in: Rear leaf suspension)
ranger 059.jpg 627 hits | 76.64 KB | Posted: 3/21/05 Great shot of me, huh? I cut 10" off the rear frame. Note the factory rear xmember has been moved forward (it's cheesy but I don't have time to build another), and I tacked angle the frame to keep it from spreading while moving the xmember. (Posted in: Rear leaf suspension)
ranger 060.jpg 717 hits | 78.47 KB | Posted: 3/21/05 A shorter Ranger with rear leafs installed. I believe this reduced the wheelbase by about 10" (Posted in: Rear leaf suspension)

ranger 076.jpg 659 hits | 64.45 KB | Posted: 3/29/05 Front hanger for rear leafs roughed in. 3" square. The two bolts pic'd are in pre-existing holes - every little bit helps make it go faster. Need bushings (Posted in: Front leaf suspension)
