As promised, a better, more in focus picture. Welds still suck but hey, I am getting better. If you are looking for max power felt, stick with the K&N setup. With this setup I feel better midrange, virtually no top end and a little bit better low end than with the K&N. It has a nice baritone note and since it's farther away from me than the K&N setup, quieter too. It mixes with the exhaust and produces a really nice sound. Power delivery is a lot nicer and more fun to drive around town now. There are two breathers that need to be addressed: one on the upper plenum and one on the oil fill tube. I just used some Spectre breather filters on them. Built from scratch 3 inch mandrel bent exhaust pipe I had and a 2.5-inch/3-inch exhaust y-pipe.

Showing clearance between reservoir and hood. It looks tight but as far as I can tell, not hitting. Here you can also see how I mounted the reservoir. The J-hook that held the jack handle is inserted into the mount on the right hand side with just the piece of flat stock added on the left. Not the most secure mounting, if I am honest but with fluid in the reservoirs it is not going anywhere. The wires and hose for the washer pump aren't long enough to reach here so the wires will need to be lengthened and the hose rerouted.

Surprisingly flat. Nothing protrudes past the throttle body (vertically speaking). There is a bracket welded to the underside of the tube just behind the filter that is bolted to a factory brace (had a factory drilled hole) to keep the assembly secured. Note: For whatever reason, it runs SUPER rich just at start up after this intake "mod". Literally, after it stops cranking and is running it is fine; just after starting it smells like it is dumping fuel and I do not know why. I am thinking it has something to do with the breather directly under the throttle body.

UPDATE! About a month and a half later and a few hundred miles the filter still looks brand new. This is without oil on it mind you (admittedly forgot to apply it) and this shot is the underside of the filter...the side closest to the holes drilled in the fender liner. Do not know if intake temps are lower in this position or not compared to the K&N. While checking another problem with a scan tool IATs still show pretty warm, 144*F (sitting, warm and at idle) to be exact. Need to get it wrapped.
