Now that those pesky fender liners are out of the way I have unrestricted access to the manifold bolts. Driver side. Since there is virtually nothing to hinder me while the liner is out I will likely throw the Saginaw ps pump on and re-install the JET chip.

Doing this from the top isn't really a viable option, if you don't want to pull the liners. Doable but not worth the headache to me.

OUT! Passenger side manifold. There are two brackets bolted to the back of the cylinder head (both utilizing 14mm heads) that will need to be unbolted to remove the manifold. Heavy, est 30 pounds maybe?

The hard part. I fully expected to not even get to 50% completion today. Both bolts in cylinder 4 (far left port in picture) were broken by one of the previous owners. The rear bolt in cylinder 3 was also broken but not visible with everything on. So, I only had 2 break on me, one broken stud extracted with a stud extractor. The rest will need to be drilled, no way around it. I still have the left side to do, mind you. Could only get out one stud, so off come the heads. Damn it.

Well, good thing I did pull the head. Ran fine...surprising well, actually. This explains a few things.

Getting there. Intake gaskets have been leaking for some time. I am surprised at how clean the valley looks.

Hm. Going to need new valves. I had one or two better, some worse. Going to need new valves. Oh well, back in they go. If I order new valves I am going to go large valves.

Valve seat. Can't remember if this is before or after lapping. I think after? 3 hours per head to do. I think I spent a bit too much time. At least I found out the valve guides are still in great shape.

Getting there...Stilll needs FEAD bolted up and bolt up the oil pan. Much as I did not want to tear the engine apart, I am glad I did. So many gaskets were leaking, it is amazing it had the power it did.

Ah, finally! I am at the point where I should have been two weeks ago. Header is there just for mock up. Some of the bolt holes that did not get messed up will need to be tapped.

Well....that just happened. If you expect us to pay $100 for a stpuid fitting, Ford, we expect $100 quality. This is not.

It is an engine again! Note: Ford Racing 302 wires, PN: FMS-M-12259-C301, fit ALMOST perfect on a 460. Wires for cylinders 3 and 4 are a bit too long (as can be seen on the left side of the picture) but no where near as bad as on the 302. The coil wire is just laying there as due to the length, I may relocate the coil to the fender liner if possible.

Wire separators are far too under appreciated on a daily driver. First time using the zip tie-wire separator method. Compared to the bundled crap that I had before this is sooooo much better.
The blue wires clash badly with the red MSD cap and the truck but with how much better the wires are and look with them zip tied, I can deal with it. [sarcasm]The purple injectors really bring it all together.[/sarcasm]

F*** you Ford. A piece of metal that is the size of an egg costs that much....EGR tube fitting. At least this one looks like it is one piece instead of two like the factory unit apparently was.

Hedman, the master of mediocrity strikes again. Y-pipe does not fit; although I do not think I can completely blame it on Hedman this time. I had to clearance the cylinder 3 primary to clear the frame, something I do not recall doing for the 92. Anyway, need to extend the crossover tube for the socket to fully seat on the ball. The cut you see there I placed in the wrong spot....I was so enraged by another situation with the truck I cut it in the wrong spot. Stupid - 1, Dave - 0.

"Fixed" y-pipe....both my stupid moment fix and Hedmans unfit problem. Only needed a fraction of an inch, that was the worst part.
Interesting discovery: the collectors apparently only need 2 bolts to work properly. In just a weekend the passenger side collector worked loose and I lost one of the "lock-nuts." Tightened up the other two last night and so far, no issue.
