The Hellwig anti-sway bar kit comes with the worst directions known to mankind. Without pictures, it was really hard to determine which way the sway bar was supposed to mount on the Excursion. Here are pictures in order of the install that you can follow with ease and pretty much disregard the directions provided by Hellwig. Note that the big loop on the sway bar mounts ABOVE the rear differential housing.

Here are the parts laid out on the floor. When you're installing your sway bar, it's also a great opportunity to install a new set of shocks on your vehicle. Stock Excursion shocks are worthless. Upgrade today! I chose Rancho RS9000's for their adjustability.

Jack your Excursion up like this in the rear. You will need tall jackstands that can support the weight of the vehicle. Do not do work on your excursion without jackstands supporting the vehicle.

Make a note for where your parking break cable runs around this shock/heate plate. I had to refer back to my digital photos when I was reassembling because I wasn't sure which side of the plate the cable mounted on. If you mount it incorrectly, the cable will wear against the plate.

Unbolt the shock from the axle housing.
Locate the two bolts at the top of the shock -- these will need to be unbolted in order to remove the shock.
You will need to use an extension on your ratching. The space is really tight to fit your hand and a ratchet to unbolt the shocks.

This is what the factory shock looks like when it's unbolted from the vehicle. You will need to remove the bottom mount from it and install it on the new shock.
Repeat for the other shock. Here's both shocks removed.
Install the bottom mount on the shock. If you are installing Rancho RS9000's or any other type of adjustable shock, make sure you mount your dials appropriately where you can reach them from underneath the vehicle. I kept mine facing the rear.

Reinstall the shocks and the rear sway bar. This can be done with one person and is fairly easy to install. I would recommend mounting the shocks at the top first, then mounting the bottoms of the shocks to the axle housing with the sway bar attached.

Here's what it looks like when you peak underneath the Excursion when it's fully installed. Total install time was 2-3 hours. I did it in the snow when it was wet and cold. If you can avoid that, your knuckles, fingers, and your sanity will thank you.
