image_11.jpeg against most people's advice, i decided to just get a cheap motor from the junkyard. this mean getting a 88-93 flat tappet motor rather than the more desirable 94 roller or roller ready motors. i dont know what i was thinking because it was only $100 difference. anyways, i bought this motor out of a 92 E350. as i started looking it over i noticed it looked like the motor had been rebuilt or replaced (note the paint on the freeze plugs). i noticed the exhaust manifolds had the magical "F4TE" markings on them, which indicates the part was manufactured on or after 1994, which for an engine block would mean roller or roller ready. finally i got to where i could read the block casting numbers (passenger side of block, above starter), and there it was, "F4TE". i saw the heavens part and heard a chorus of angels. ok, maybe it wasnt that dramatic, but i was excited. maybe my luck is finally changing (knock on wood).
