Hello everyone, I just bought a 85 F-350 6.9l diesel, non dually. This is a project car, i.e. Blown head gasket, shot water pump, and rear brake cylinder out. I figured I would start with what I thought would be the easiest, replace the rear right brake cylinder. Two hour job max....I thought. ( I've only worked on small cars). I was pretty surprised when I found I had to remove the axle and replace those axle studs. I guess after their torqued they stretch and can't be reused once removed? Anyway, all the auto shops I've called don't carry it, (Kragen, Auto zone, Pepboys...) and the dealership won't help me unless I can give them the diff tag, which as I found out it missing. Its 50/50 wether or not they'll send me the right bolts. So seeing as I can loose close $80 if i order the wrong bolts I'm hoping somebody can point me in the right direction first. I also need to track down the gasket and oil seal for the axle. (all this just to get to the flipping brake cylinder!?!?). I'm 18 and this officially my first vehicle, any help or advice is much appreciated.
