Steve,
| Quote: | Now that I've been using it, I've noticed a few bugs:
1) A single click in a UBB code text field no longer selects all - you have to triple-click now to highlight everything. |
Which page/url are you running into this bug on?
| Quote: | | 2) Drag-N-Drop in the album list doesn't work. You can't drag a sub-album to a new parent. You have to use the old parent editing window. |
This is actually functioning by design -- drag & drop album sorting only works within the same "level" albums.
| Quote: | | 3) The DND links beside each album name are counterintuitive (to me). The DND link at the top of the list opens the DND window for albums, as I expect. So I expect the DND links beside all the albums to open THAT ALBUM's DND window for the media inside it. But it does the same as the link at the top of the page. |
Ah yes, I see what you mean. We actually put these links next to the albums because the link at the top is very small and we didn't want people to miss it, especially since there are other "sorting" options available (the up/down arrows) next to each album in the list.
The same holds true for when you're in an album -- the drag & drop link is both at the top of the list of files and also next to each file in the list.
We wanted to keep this separate so that when you are changing any ordering of media files, posting new files, editing descriptions, etc., it's all done via one page. If we add drag & drop functions for media files on the album list page, you then can manage media file sorting in 2 separate areas of the site.

| Quote: | | Which page/url are you running into this bug on? | It was happening on every media page (like http://www.supermotors.net/registry/media/#####) last night, but it's working normally now.
I've also noticed that pointing to a media thumbnail on a normal album page (like http://www.supermotors.net/registry/###/#####) doesn't always induce a balloon with the file info. I think it has something to do with the new ads because, if the ad shows, the balloons show. If the ad fails, the balloons don't. Sometimes, only the ad background shows, but the status bar continuously shows "Opening page..." and the balloons never work without reloading the page.

Loving the new features - especially #3 Have made extensive use of it already!
Adding drag and drop sorting to move subfolders into different parent folders sometime in the future would be nice, if possible.
The re-upload/media edit feature would be VERY nice. Sometimes I notice a mistake or want to add something else to an existing media file and have to upload a new one and delete the old. I don't really care about loosing the hits, but doing so breaks all of the old links to the original media file (meaning dead links whenever I linked that image on other sites in the past)

I agree, makes it cluttered looking to me. Aside from the top and bottom - perhaps limit the DND links to just the parent folders ?? |

| Quote: | | ...dead links whenever I linked that image on other sites in the past... | What I do in those cases is use the Rear View Mirror list of links to find the pages referencing the old version, then go to those pages & edit my posts with the new link. If someone else posted the old link, I might make a new post with the new link.
But I've noticed the RVM doesn't always work... I'll try to remember to post an example here when I run across another one.

I dont understand why the ads are basically in the middle of my albums????
It's distracting to have a large ad right at the top of my thumbnails. |

J.R., thanks for posting,
We are testing a few new locations of this square ad size. We've recently had an advertiser cancel their monthly payment due to client cutbacks and we're also seeing an overall drop in banner revenue.
As a result, we're trying to compensate by adding this ad format on a few different pages of the site, one of which is on pages that show album thumbnails, in an effort to help supplement the lost revenue.
Our plan is to run the ads in these new locations and to evaluate the results in 30 days. User/subscriber comments like yours will certainly be factored into the analysis of whether or not the new ad format is a "good thing" both from a monetary standpoint AND user experience standpoint.

Collapsible parent folders would be nice. I have way to many subfolders, clutters the album view.

Steve,
We've revamped the drag & drop links for albums and files. Would appreciate your thoughts after you have some time to play around with it.
