Although it seems to work, and doesn't appear to leak, it doesn't look right overhanging the roof ribs.

The hitch receiver seems to fit well, but it only has a round 4-pin connector with a very old electronic taillight adapter hanging from the underbody wiring.

The rear wiper blade is missing.

The aftermarket running boards were installed wrong (to frame AND body), and this side isn't even attached to its brace (which is barely attached to the frame).

I guess the switch was added for storage, but it's a poor way to accomplish what a trickle charger would do MUCH better. Both battery terminals (and the battery) are cheap junk. The one fusible link is installed poorly.

The side marker lights had ...

The aftermarket cruise servo's cable was coiled up right in front of it. Its VSS wiring is ripped away underneath, and there's no sign of any VSS.

The aftermarket power window system barely works; partially due to the glass runs being old.

There are at least 5 aftermarket systems hacked into the dash wiring below the column, but some of them are abandoned.

The rodent who nested in the kick doesn't appear to be responsible for the wiring problems.

Just to get a general idea, I pulled the easiest plug (#4) to inspect. It has the correct amount of tan ash on the insulator, indicating that the engine (or at least cylinder #4) is generally running well. I'll blast the plug clean before reinstall...

I chose to disturb as LITTLE of the plastic as possible on this old truck, so I installed these bushings one at a time, from each side. The right (shifter) side has one 17mm nut; the left has a 14mm nut for the shift lever, and then a 17mm nut for t...

These grommets are responsible for the shifter's action, against the transmission lever. The originals were dry & shrunken, causing a lot of play in the linkage, so new ones are going in. I wasn't sure if there was any wear on the bar or pins, so I...

After a few voltage checks under load, I realized that there was high resistance at both the alternator output (positive) and case ground (negative). So I pulled the smog pump & alternator to fix it.

The burned spots on the ring terminal & the alte...

This was the big problem: the alternator pivot bolt was barely hand-tight. So it wasn't clamped onto the engine bracket, and wasn't making a good ground contact between the case & block. The lower (front) alternator tab in the right foreground show...

Since I was cleaning up the others, I pulled the compressor & cleaned the main battery ground terminal to the engine mount. Turns out it was already clean & tight, but now it's cleaner & tighter.
