john coming down to spider lake just passed the box bypass
john with the same problem he had last year at this spot. this is why he is walking in the previous picture
this guy made the trail look paved. Apparently he won the top truck this year. A truly amazing rig.
taking lines i wouldn't even consider, and making it look easy
group sho on the way from spider to buck lake
Here's dan getting around this off camber pinch. lots of people cant make the turn and he ended up just kissing as he came off.

Dave, Bill and i decided to take the Old Sluice down to Buck, even tho people said we shouldn't. Of course, we have been told that several times before. this was the tightest section down, just before the last bypass.
this is the start of the Old sluice (before the previous picture). It was a fun section that dave walked right through with 39's and 1 ton running gear
and through it with a little tire slippage from hanging up. I definately 'need' 37's now.
This was the toughest spot on the Old sluice, and just beyond the last bypass (the one we should have taken)
Dave picks a good line and does well till the next picture.
Dave slides of the original line unde throttle, and disaster looms.
here is where he ended up. that 39 shouldnt be that far back. It got wedged up hard against that rock with too much force.
doesnt look right does it?
Here you can see the pretzeled radius arm and broken front driveline. what you dont see is the transmission that got jammed (we think its the shift collar that is jammed, which wont allow him to start the motor to turn the tires so we can pull him out) or the broken track bar mount. It took a lot of effort just to get him off the trail.
bill lost his custom 16 spline front drive line. It was supposed to be splined into the flange and wasnt, so he spun the weld. here he is trying to reweld it, before the flange finally let go. I ended up pulling him a lot of the way out (up cadillac and down from buck lake thru the big sluice). Lots of his good driving and some winching got him off the trail this trip
even in two wheel drive, he still flexes well.
Buck, after some cleaning up. It was sure nice to get all the dust off.
the rubicon is definately a beautiful place.
I am definately flexing better with the wristed arm. But, we think this may be causing drivers side arm failures. both Bill and obviously Dave suffered from drivers side bending on this trip
from one rock to another, this trail keeps you on our toes
here is one of several times we had to winch Bill in 2WD up Cadillac. we were beat tired from running lines and driving all day. We finally got off the trail around 10pm sunday night, without Daves truck
this was the other line down, instead of where John went and blew his bead. it is actually fairly steep
following some jeeps from the slabs down to spider. this is a new section of trail this year.
on the slabs past gatekeeper
dave on soupbowl. Pretty neat watching him on there.
