Just wanted to break your hearts. Leather interior was still in fine shape. He didn't last long, got pushed in the ditch surrounding the pit.

A GM/CV that ran last night as well. He didn't last long either night.

Lined up for night two. I didn't get as many hits in tonight, just a few. I recieved plenty, though. I blew the right rear tire pretty early, but kept going. The right front also went. I was limping around on defense tonight instead of offense. I ended up pushed into the ditch, just spinning the tires. The t-Bird in front of me(built up) and the car in back of me(built up) were the last two running, I was the third last (??) car running, and made it to the feature.

That's how she looked after the heat tonight. Two flats, hood up so high I couldn't see driving back to the pits. HEHE what a blast! We had 15 minutes after the winners from the last heat were pulled into the pits to work on the cars. I got both right tires changed and the hood back down, and beat out the right front fender.

Another non-action shot. Eight or so cars in the feature. I lost the left front tire pretty early. Made a hit on someone and she stalled, I just got her started when I got wolloped on the right side, the left front rim dug into the clay and I went skyward. I thought I was going on the roof! It was awesome. That hit scrunched up the whole dash, and bent the shifter linkage. My night was over.

On a good note, I was the last non-" Team Derby Dogs" car running. The last three cars were all entered by the same group of guys. Here I am sitting in the middle of the pit while they chase each other around.

And yes, that IS a Geo Metro in the feature. Only three cars were in the 4-cylinder heat, so they all made into the feature. He didn't last more than one hit. Then he got scared, waved at the flag guy and said his car was on fire, so they would stop the derby. He jumped out of the car and off the pit. I can't blame him.

Here she is after all was said and done. I swiped the good tires off her, stripped the battery and all the straps I used, and left her there.

The dash after the last hit. It was nice and straight up until then.

That old 6-cylinder was still running pretty at the end, the tranny, too! It wouldn't have taken much work to get her into another derby, but the process of getting a car ready proved very therapeutic for me. I'd rather start fresh. I've wanted to do this since I was 6, and loved every minute. Big ole shiat eatin' grin on my face the whole time. Consider me hooked.
