All the pics for now are just of the stock '95 compressor I removed. The idea is to use this location and put another compressor in there for OBA that is practically plug and play (for anyone interested in wanting this), vs. fabbing up pulley's, brackets, different sized belts, etc.

so you prob. got bored with the stock AC pics wondering WTF? Here is the kit I ordered, with the stock AC at left against my new OBA compressor. This baby once installed is going to be like un-noticeable as OBA, people will think it's AC from the factory.

another view. This baby uses redline grease for lube. There is no blow by to catch, it's simple compressed air out to the tank. rated a little less than a york 210 (spec on line is 8cfm, but upon calling that is at 2k rpm, idle is 3.2cfm, where a 210 can do 4), the belt driven compressors are great because if you want, you can always get more out of them by bumping engine rpm.

so there you go, that's the kit. I plan a full install writeup on fullsizebronco.com which will include the few other little misc. items I need to complete the install, and then some tests. maybe a test head to head against someone with a york. And of course the cost of this new stuff.

Little brass plug over on the engine intake box will be the filtered intake for the compressor. Plug has like a 1" catch on the inside and comes out a little under 1/2" ID.

the little "curtis" hour meter gauge I put in line to monitor "on" time for the compressor so it would help me determine the next time for some grease. meter only runs when the switch is flipped on in the cab (it's also switched power so requires the key on) AND the pressure switch is open and sending power to the compressor clutch. The meter has some ability to maintain the clock internally when off and cannot be reset.

no psi now, but it's regulated to about 90-95psi and then comes out and back to the floor behind the drivers seat.

lame drawing, but I'm trying to show 2 possible mounting locations for a high idle solenoid. Basically I get one of these, mount it so that the plunger can come in contact with the throttle linkage, and then wire the solenoid to an on/off switch in the cab. Hit switch, bump gas pedal and the solenoid plunger extends and keeps the linkage open at a set RPM.

I have the solenoid now, and in testing it, it's as I was told....it only draws a tiny amount of amperage and so it cannot push the throttle open, but rather when it receives power you have to touch the gas pedal so that it will instantly open and set. Once set it will hold the throttle open. So the plan is to wire this in before my pressure switch, but in line from my OBA switch. That way when I flip the OBA on the compressor will turn on and pressurize the system to the set 140psi and then shut off, but this solenoid will still have power and will still maintain the high idle until I flip the OBA switch off.

after adjusting it, I hit the OBA switch and it turns on, and then I tap the gas pedal and the rpm's settle just above 1550. when the OBA compressor kicks off this rises to about 1700rpm.

A few earlier pics showed a black PVC tube going from air intake to intake on compressor, and that was swapped out for a goodyear hose as shown in this pic.
