Just a start here, long overdue, but finally put some thought into how to add this easily with little/no cost. More pics and explanation coming, but this really is meant for those running cage/duff arms.

working on the rough lower mounts. had to wait for some 2x3 .188 wall rectangular tube.

lower mounts primed, painted, ready for install.

bolted in the lower mount, just put a shock up to test fit here.

testing turning radius to make sure nothing contacts, specifically the caliper.

all clear, nothing will touch so it's on to the upper mount which are the 2 larger pieces of angle shown in 003.jpg above. Those need trimming first, then just like the lower a U bracket will be welded to them, and then the whole piece gets welded to the side of the upper shock tower.

.188 U welded to a cut down piece of .188 angle, which in turn is welded all around onto the side of the ford shock tower, which is actually .25 steel. I also switched out the 2 bolts to the frame for some new grade 8, 1/2" with nice big/thick washers.

so my original shock position in the ford tower leaves about 5 inches up travel, close to 9 down. The new one right next to the coil is a little more at 5.25 up, this was planned, wanted a little more right at the coil.

thinking about fabricating superduty type shock mounts but dual shock, for the front, like these.
