When i got this bronco the ac did not work and wires were everywhere. this bronco did not come factory AC. The dealer added it in. I decided to yank it all out and do a stock install and remove the extra junk from the bronco. i had to make a choice on what to swap it with

this is the top view. you can see where they just hacked in the ac wiring. i hate to have a fire because some one was lazy and did a poor install.
The 1984 truck panel was a direct swap in. the only difference is the far right. on the bronco the Glass switch was located here and on the truck the fuel tank front rear switch is there.
Here is anothr view. what a mess
I got the duct work and a climate control switch from a fellow club member the 1989 was a step up but had a ton of vaccum control valves.
I was told to to look at the 1987/88 system cable connection and 1 vaccum connection. plus the AC has a power on button. this allows you to run thru the selection without running the AC compressor. The only down fall is there is no switch for the rear window. the bronco moved this switch to the dash. This was an easy fix. I decided to run the 87/88 controls.
Here is a back view. you see very simple 2 cables, 2 power plugs (1-ac compressor - 1 heater power) and a vaccum switch on the bottom (recycle and fresh air---nice feature)
this is stripped down to the control panel. lots of cleanup work was done to get here.

I first pulled the old climate control switches out and removed the wiring mess. ( this was taken after i added the window switch)
The dash was beatup real bad. Here is the stock hole. i needed to make an adapter to swap the panels.
You can see the 4 stock holes that mounts the panel.
I decided to make this cool adapter. it allows the new panel to mount to it and it then bolts to the stock 4 holes. I had sole file cabinet rails sitting in the shop and just chopped and welded them into a box. I then drilled the mounting holes and hit with primer and paint.
well i had to open the dash up some more to make a good clean fit. You can see the wiring mess behind the dash.
Here is the adapter mount in the install lacation.to clear up why i chopped out the dash it was to keep from chopping up the control panel ears.
Here is the new panel all installed. it was mostly bolt in from here.

Here it is with the cover over it. looks factory and like it came this way.
Here is the 1987 panel installed the main reason for the swap was the 87/89 used a cable operated heatorbox (not vacuum like the newer models) plus this has recycle and mine only broucht in fresh air from outside. this also has a ac power button instead id running the compressor on the cool tems.

This was some of the wiring mess i was able to throw away. it was all jammed in the dash.

Here are the parts. stock Ford Tailgate window switch, Buick station wagon switch cover and a cunk of scrap metal.
Here is another view of the switch. i just unscrewed it from the stock climate control panel.
Ok- now to address the tailgate window motor switch issue. i looked thru alot of cars and truck in the junk yard and i came up with this stock switch remounted to a new mount under a Buick station wagon tailgate switch panel. not too bad. The mount is just some scrap i had here in the shop.
i just pop riveted the old tailgate switch to the flat steel mount.
Here is the Buick Panel riveted on ready to install.
