Here is the side view of the stock shackle.
there is no easy way to remove rivet. i tried the heating, cutting the head off and punching them out. Here is the drivers side rear frame with the mount removed.
Here is one afer fighting to remove it.
i found i had to cut the spring out and then grind off the rivets and beat them out. lots of noise and no fun. here are the stock mounts and stock shackles. (normally the mount folds up and bolts to the side of the shackle. i cut chopped the springs out)
This is how the stock setup works.
If i were to use stock mounts i could tuen them upside down and this would give 2-3 inch lift. i when a different road.

To make life alittle easier i removed the gas tank.
i wire wheeled the frame and hit it with some new paint.

all the new grade 8 bolts.jpg | Hits: 672 | Size: 104.4 KB | Posted on: 11/1/06 | Link to this image
This is the Sky MFG shackle flip kit. i got new grade 8 bolts it came with grade 5
This is how you get the Sky mounts. in the raw. these things are heavy and strong as heck.
here is the stock mount and the Sky
If you use the stock shackle this is the lift you get. (i would recomend to beef up the shackle as they will bend and squat if not reinforced)
here is another view of the stock flip.

I wanted a few extra inches so i got this Belltech 4" drop shackle. when used with the Sky mounts it add 4" more lift to the flip. It came as seen below.

You can see how much more this adds over the stock shackle.
if you were to use the stock mount and the drop shackle you get this lift.
here is the way it is going into my bronco the stock setup on the right my new setup on the left.
you can see the lift i can get from this setup.
Here is a side shot of the difference.
If i was to reuse the stock shackle i replace the bushings with these.
these bushing use the old shell so you burn out the rubber and push these in olace.
This was stolen from the web - sorry author not noted. if you like to use the stock shackle you should beef it up so it lasts. this was an easy fix. just weld larger plates on the sides and i would add a cross mount to sorta box in the shackle.
I painted a primer coat and then gloss black. do not want these to rust away.
here is anothr view of the fresh paint.
These look real good all painted.
Ok i had to open all the holes up one side (if you use the stock grade 5 bolts in the kit you still need to do this step) and bolted the mounts in place.
Here the new mount is all tourqued down.
Here is is just in its spot not tighened down yet. this is fitting together nice.
Here is the driver side in place.

Here is the rear view of the driver side.
Here is the pass side. i did not like how close the exhaust was to the spring but it would work if left alone. i had to change it anyway. see exhaust folder.
Here is Jezebel from the rear after the fip was completed.
Here is a side view after the flip (you lose 1" of whell base but the ride is worth it. you can get zero rate lift block that allows you to move the axle back into the stock location if you want).
here is the pass side all done
sorry for the dar picture but there is no more factory shim block. this will reduce axle wrap-up.

stock rear shim.jpg | Hits: 706 | Size: 95.73 KB | Posted on: 11/1/06 | Link to this image
well if you looked closly in the last pic you see i ditched the stock shim block. with the flip they are not needed. this will improve axle wrap as the axle is closer to the spring).
Here is the other side of the shim blocks. they make great paper weights.
