The back-up lights would not go off. after researching i found this was a common issue. I got a new switch from NAPA and here it is next to the old one.

Here is the other side. This is called the neutral Saftey switch. the part goes onthe steering column. the book never gave where or how to remove it. the plugs get unplugged and the u clip pops off the column with a flat blade screwdriver.

it clips just inside of the firewall on the inside. here is the new one in place.
