Can anyone tell me if there are other vehicles that use the same third brake light as my '05 X.
I looked at a '99 Ford F150 rear light that looked like it might be the same (saw it in a parking lot) but I didnt put a tape measure on it.
If the F150 brake light is the same I think the '97-'03 lights are all the same.
If anyone can confirm this it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I know the one from a Lightning will work. But do not know how that differs from the other F-150s.
There was a discussion about the CHMSL (Center Mounted High Stop Lamp or Light) being swapped out with the one from the Lightning over at FTE a year or so ago.

I found that light on ebay and that is the mod I had in mnd.
Im looking for something a little more stock looking with the cover. I found a clear LED assembly with the lens cover Im trying to figure out weather it will fit before I order.
Thanks for searching out that post.

That's pretty cool.
Look out for shoddy quality however. Make sure you know the Warranty & return policy.
They are both nice looking lights. I just am not sure about the need for the cargo lamps back there. Guess it could aid in hooking up a trailer at night.
Hmmm....now there's an excuse for the wife!

When I get some extra time, I plan to rewire my cargo lights so they will burn with the reverse lights

Isn't there a ski resort on one of Hawaii's peaks? |

No ski resorts but there are companies that will take you skiing when there is snow up there.
No snowmobiles...we have Jet Skis.
We DO have horses (2nd largest Ranch in the US is on the Big island: Parker Ranch) that we have to pull around. I have 3 myself.

Alright....I think I found the lights.
The '97-'03 F150 lights as well as the Lightning Lights look to be all the same. Im ordering a set and will let the board know how it goes.
Thanks for the help.

Yes, it's a stock Ford third brakelight for an F150 Lightning. I don't recall the part number ... got it on eBay for around $90-some. What year? I don't know exactly, but it's not from the current body style F150 ... it's from the last body style ... can't remember what year they switched over.
More discussion and links about it here ...

Mine arrived to day
But I'm having some issues... Mine is not a perfect fit :
I went ahead and install it... But those gaps
I just dont get it...
A ford part site says 2001-2004 (for the lightning) A ebay seller says "All 1999-2004 F150 Lightnings" So I did some reseach on some 99-01 lighting models that I found on ebay and it turns out the lightning trucks didn't came with the cargo spot lamp untill 2001. Intresting... Please Help LANDYOT. Can you take a picture or look to see if you have this "gaps". thank you.

caddys83 - Agreed in that it is not a perfect fit. Don't forget that light was made for another vehicle. Those gaps will look a little odd when you're no more than a foot or two away. But, from any real distance ... like in your last photo ... the gaps aren't noticeable. Anyone who's running that light on their X will have the same gaps. Mine are less noticeable because of the rear wind deflector that casts a lot of shade on that light. Back away from it some ... look at it from where a car behind you might be positioned ... rub your chin some ... scratch your head if you want ... then make another opinion. It looks good to me. |

HA HA.... I stood back a few feet and its not that noticeable... But when I stand closer it is... I'm thinking maybe tomorrow I'm going to a few stereo shops and see if they can fiberglass in the gaps.... But I do like it
