Note the tiny blue gear inside the whte one on the side of the speedo. If you look at the original-size photo, you can see that it's shedding teeth.
The replacement is expensive for no good reason other than the small independent aftermarket production run, but it WORKS, and the guy selling them is reasonable to deal with. I ordered 3 gears (2 for an MGM cluster) and he only charged me $4 sh.
