padsurfaces.jpg Always clean the surfaces that touch the pad backing plates (& all other points of metal-to-metal contact) before applying brake grease to them.  Of course, the caliper & pad SLIDES are far more-critical than the spot where the brush is in this photo, but it's hard to do much with 1 hand working the camera.  Drum brakes need even more cleaning.
