Intake manifold/top of engine with plenum removed.

Another closer right side view of engine compartment, plenum, TB, intake hose removed.
Comparison of spark plugs, on the left is an example of a plug from the passenger side head, on the right is a plug from the driver's side head.
Driver's side view of engine top end with plenum, TB, intake hose removed. The fuel rail is now out of the way as well.
Me holding the passenger side valve cover, showing repugnant goo.
Closeup of repugnant goo in driver's side valve cover near oil cap.
Top of engine with valve covers removed (driver's side gasket still in place)
Just a picture of the external transmission oil cooler.
Me holding up the intake manifold, driver's side ports shown, see the bolt threads still in the hole on the left? Gonna be $15 extra to have the machine shop remove it. You can also see my 18-month old's hands, he played in the Suburban while my friend and I worked.
Me holding the intake manifold again, this shows the passenger side ports.
This is what the engine looks like after the valve covers and intake manifold are removed, but the valley pan is still in place.
Closeup of the gritty silty crud sitting in the valley pan.
And here is the engine with the valley pan removed. You can see some of the lifters and cam here.
Exhaust manifolds after heat shield removal. You can also see the missing dipstick, but you can't see the cigarette filter 2 inches down. Also a good view of the rocker shafts in this shot.
Closeup of the wiring hack job done by the previous owner. He wired the fans TO EACH OTHER and never connected them to power OR ground!
Another view of the cooling fan assembly. This will be the primary item I need to buy from a junkyard, that and an oil dipstick and tube.
Heads are off, general engine view, you can see all the lifters now, as well as the passenger side front piston being relatively clean compared to the others. That was the only compromised cylinder. The other two breaks in the head gasket only compromised coolant passages.
Piston #1, the only one that was relatively clean.
Driver's side head gasket.
Passenger's side head gasket.
