Hello to the thread, whoever you are. We love our Cr. Vic, for sure! What is happening is that the heater blower unit only works on the very highest setting. I see that there is a resistance coil sonewhere on this car...does nayone know where it might be located? it isn't obvious! thanks in advance!

Hello 'bozoface': It would probably help as a minimum to know the 'year-engine-model' to ensure any feedback w/on point info. 
You could check w/a auto database from you local library card....? Might even be online...? I don't know how close Guys Mills, Pa to a sizable library source...?
Otherwise someone w/a CV 'service repair' manual might help...
Haynes repairs manuals are fairly generic...esp. w/o 'year-engine-model' available....  |

Hi Wizard, I have a Hanes book it talks about this alleged heater coil, and even shows a picture of a guy holding it in his hand...but I can't locate it. Of course, the book covers ALL Crown Vics, and not just the '98. I would think someone on here will know exactly where it is, that is, IF CFord still used them by '98! Maybe they have been replaced by a serious of large resisters? I am going to head to a Ford dealer parts dept...sometimes they can shed light.

best "library" source might just be a Ford Dealer parts dept. they won't charge for their time, you know, as they try and pull up the part diagram, etc. |

Most of the heater resistor coils are located on the blower fan box in the engine compartment. However, there are some oddities that put them inside the passenger compartment. The Haynes manual show explain to you were it is.
Also, Ford parts should be able to show you were it is located at.

Just put in your VIN or year and model, and search for the part. You can view were the part is with this site. Also, the prices are corporate prices. If you order anything locally, make sure you verify the cost before you order.

thank you so much, JD, for this info. I certainly will try this link, and see where it leads me. What I know is the heater fan resistance coil unit is not mounted on the fan box under the hood. thanks again..I will keep you posted.
