It's possible, just a possibility mind you, that the cylinder head bolts pass into water jackets.

Yes, yes you can take the cylinder heads off without removing the shorty headers.

Think I'll put the headers and header gaskets back on the heads before I put the heads on the block....

Some people knock them in dry, but I find Loctite thread sealer works well to seal them up.
