The final step is to expand the insert with the last tool, which must be oiled. This sets the insert permanently into place & prepares the threads for the spark plug.

The insert is threaded onto the installation tip, which slips into the driver, retained by its O-ring. The locking screw prevents the insert from screwing down onto the tip.

All BigSerts require red thread locker be applied before installation.

The first tool starts by cleaning out any remaining spark plug threads (red pointer), then uses a smooth pilot (white) to hold the cutter (blue) square to the hole.

The only 4-wire connector I had handy was for a trailer, but it works. The memory (blue) is shorted to ground by its button, so 4 is enough. I tapped into the clock wires for power, ground, & illumination.

I was left with a hole from the old manual recline lever.


To solve that, I used a color-matched push pin in the hole. Works alright.

You can still see the worn area of material where the handle was, but oh well.

Removing the door panel will uncover the factory fuel door wiring clipped to the plug.



If you're lucky, you can pry out the plug from the top, and the wiring will come out with it - without having to pull the door panel.

If not, you can pop...
