number one: make sure you have enough room to slide the axle shaft out. i made that mystake on the passenger side and had to reassembly everything enough to roll it where i can slide it out
remove the 8 flange bolts and pull the flange out.
gear oil will come out so be prepared to catch it. the higher the axle is angled the less gear oil that will ooze out.
