I installed a B&M shift improver kit, stage 2, part number 40262; it took me about 5 hours to install. I installed a B&M drain plug in the pan at the same time.

I used a green stripe modulator, instead of the old modulator that used two vaccum hoses; this should raise the full throttle shift points to 5500 rpm, I hope.

I used a TCS kevlar lined intermediate band, instead of the stock Ford part.

This should last longer and withstand some abuse at the drag strip.

this is the 6 pinion, wide-ratio planetary set I installed;

it's the stock part out of the Ford E40D 4spd auto transmission. I installed it instead of the original 3-pinion planetary; the sun gear and shell gets changed also.

it should "trick...

the clutch plates need to be soaked in ATF fluid for at least 15 minutes, so they survive on start up.

I re-used the stock steel transmission pan because I was worried about ground clearance, but there is lots of room; I installed a B&M drain plug; it holds 10 liters of type F fluid.

I used the aluminum AOD seperator plate, instead of the steel C6 tin; it fit perfectly so I won't have to change it when I install an AOD later.

this is the original rear end; its a Ford 9" with drum brakes and a 3.25:1 open differential;

I replaced it with the rearend from my Ranchero 500, which has a 3.00:1 posi diff.
