2004 air bag light stays on

after starting, air bag lights blinks 3 times, six times with a 3 to 6 second pause between blinks. after the sixth time it stays on. I have heard the air bag could deploy causing injury. Any thoughts? I can put up with the light being on, but don't want to take a chance with injury.
This is a former Police dept. vehicle.

I agree with you caution about the air bag warning lite....

I would call a few experienced ASE techs...to get their thoughts & experiences....!!!
