Well, searching the internet to see if I was just imagining a problem I have with my 2011 Police Crown Victoria with the seats being a torture device landed me here. It was a relief to know that I was in fact not the only person who is suffering from the very poor design of the seat/head rest.

However I have another problem with my unit and was wondering if any other Law Enforcement officers have came across the same problem. The AM/FM radio will turn off by it's self then come back on and will have to have the clock reset. The stations stay in the memory and when the preset is pushed will take you back to the programmed station , but you have to put it on the FM band to get them back. It did this like 6 times in less than 2 hours the other night.
When I would turn it off with the power button, it would turn it's self back on. It did that twice.

Anybody else experience this with theirs??.

Sorry for the long post. Thanks in advance for any input.

The radio problem sounds like is a short in the radio itself or a short in the wiring. Most radios for the Grand Marquis and Town Car will fit. Either replace it with another factory unit that is known to be good {if that is what you prefer (go to a recycler [junk] yard)}, or get an aftermarket unit.

May I suggest www. crutchfield.com as a source for aftermarket radios, speakers, etc. I have been using them since they first started, and I have had minimal problems with their equipment. Usually it was just a wiring mistake. I have replaced the factory radios on my cars soon after purchasing them, and kept the OEM radio to put back in at trade-in time.

NOTE: A lot of the stuff Crutchfield has is end of the year models and close-outs that the factory is getting rid of. But they still have a warranty to back them up. I have had a radio die on me less than six (6) months after purchase, and the replacement under warranty was better than what I originally had purchased. Can't complain about that service.

As far as the seats, some people simply look at the junk yards to find a comfortable seat they like, have it reupholstered, have the tracks modified to fit in the car, and be done with it. Others have the OEM seats reupholstered to their liking (softer seats and cushions, better support). It depends on what YOU want.

I had a problem with my headrest as when on duty we wear hats. I took the headrest and turned them around. I took a bit of wrangling to get them out but it feels better. For long hours find yourself a good seat cushion and attach it where it doesn't slide when your duty belt is on your body. Makes the hours better and more comfortable.

Thanks for the reply's all. The radio has a self test sequence that can be activated by pressing certain buttons on it. It gives you a diagnostic read out on the screen. The local dealership replaced it for me under warranty. They also had to replace the battery in my unit due to it going bad before the warranty went out. They told me they are having to replace a bunch of them due to them going bad before there time.
The headrest problem I fixed by going to our fleet yard and getting some out of a wrecked 2009. You have to squeeze the bars in ward to get it to slide in but it will and they feel much better. You also have a much better field of view when backing up or changing lanes. Note: There is a spring clip that holds the 2009 headrest's in the seat. You have to remove it to get the headrest out of the plastic insert in the seat back.
