Yeah, I know it was illegal. But it was fun. |

9/12/2003-
Talked to Vic from Fisher's. He told me they'd had it apart since Tuesday, but have been talking to several axle places such as Dana and someothers. They finally came to the consensus that due to the pinion angle, they had too much fluid in there. The seals were being soaked and they weren't designed to do that, from what I'm told. So he told me he should have it back together for me on Monday (today). So I guess we'll see. I'm glad nothing was wrong with it. We didn't discuss charges, but he did ask me if anyone had added fluid. Truth be told, everytime I checked it, it would come out the fill hole; so none was ever added. |

9/17/2003-
Vic called me just a few minutes ago, no charge! I'm pumped. Now just have to road test it to see if RC is doable. |

Things aren't looking good. I took Hoss out today to road test it, to see if Red Creek was feasible or not. Looks like not; atleast for now. After about an hour or so of driving it, I was traveling about 65ish, and it kinda started sputtering. I'm not sure how to explain it, surging might be a better word for it. As long as I stayed under 40ish, it seemed to be ok. After several miles of it doing this, I finally decided to pull over and try to adjust the carb. Since I'm a noobie, I wasn't sure what I was doing, but figured I'd give it a shot. I thought it helped at first, but it still continued to do it. To make a long story short, Hoss is now sitting at L&S Auto. I plan on talking to the owner tomorrow and see what my chances are for having it later this week. I can only assume it's something electrical or with fuel delivery; I know it's getting air. If anyone has any insight, please speak up. I have no idea what carb I have, so I know I'm not much help. I started out today optimistic about Hoss, and I'm trying to stay that way-I really want to go to Red Creek. |

how hot was it running, you could be boiling your fuel, check your fuel filter, then it could also be your distributor maybe the mechanical advance springs are worn or a bad vacume advance

It was running at about 180-190 degrees, so it wasn't running hot at all. It has done this once before, but that's before I had all the electrical work done. Whatever it is, I have no clue. I guess I'll see what my mechanic says. |
