This is the place to post questions and discuss the Moab trip. I'll be adding additional information to the Moab Information page that should hopefully take care of most of the FAQs.

OK, Time is getting close. Do we have a run roster yet? It would be nice to know what trails we will be runing each day. Some other helpfull information will be the difficulty level of the trails.

Well lets see... Maybe I need to ask this a different way. Keith what runs are you going to lead? How difficult will they be? Shawn started this thread for FAQ's and I have one, the only one. Maybe traffic will pickup soon, but I dont know. I am getting excited and looking forward to the trip and the reunion with Bronco owners I havent seen in a long time.

That's a good question Dave. At the very least myself and Nathan Geving will be available to lead trails..........so if we need to split into two groups we can do that.

Since NAXJA is gonna be there I think it'd be helpful to determine where they are going to be on given days, and maybe try to go elsewhere. Looks like I was able to find their schedule here:
http://www.naxja.org/events/moab2003/trailschedule.pdf

General trails I'd like to run include:
Golden Spike (this will be an 8am departure)
Lower Helldorado (body damage is a remote possibility but if people are SUPER concerned about body damage they'd be better to stay out)
Cliffhanger and Moab Rim (can probably be combined into one day)
Kane Creek
Hell's Revenge (will have to pay to get into the park)
Behind the Rocks

Other possibilities include Fins 'N Things, Steel Bender, Metal Masher, etc etc.

I'd really like to wait until we're all there and see what people want to do and how equipped each vehicle is. Most of the trails I want to do are 4 to 4+...........but I'd say any fullsize Bronco with a 4" lift, 33's and a rear locker could accomplish them. If people want to do one "easier" "family" day that's fine. I'm thinking up Hurrah Pass, down the other side toward Chicken Corners would be cool. Those who want more challenge can run up and back down the start of Lockhart Canyon to get in a little more difficult (but still moderate) 'wheeling.

I'd personally like to *maybe* do an easier run Monday, then do Golden Spike Tuesday.... that way Tuesday will be the longest and hardest day, and if people do break they have Wednesday to wrench and can still 'wheel Thursday and/or Friday (Friday's up in the air since a lot of people may start heading home).

Again, I'd ask that EVERYONE have a functioning CB, and departure times will be adhered to; no "just 5 more minutes for Little Johnny to get out of the bathroom." Dave, you saw what that mentality got us in South Dakota: 11am departures every day, and let's not forget you and I and Dustin and Dallas came out of Golden Spike in the dark due to a 10:30 departure.

I'm thinking 9am is a good time to start each day, with Tuesday being the exception at 8am. We can meet at City Market (grocery) everyday since not everyone will be staying in the campground. City Market is a good place to have one last chance to use the bathrooms, and buy food for the trail, whatever. They seem to be very 'wheeler friendly as tons of groups meet there, and the parking lot is relatively large.

Also a night run is not out of the question, but we'll gauge interest on that later.

I like the idea of a night run. Keith, I was thinking of heading to Moab Saturday night or early Sunday Morning. What is your plan? I thought I might do a run on Sunday.

Sounds good to me on the runs, Keith. I'd also like to do a night run. That is, if I get all the lights wired on the Bronco in time. Maybe I can wire those up in the campground.

hey thats your fault since you broke your junk.... no really we did get a late start and I know we waited on dallas most of that trip. so yeah early departure times is fine with me and I will be there waiting. I would like to run some new trails and also hells revenge and golden spike since those were both awsome trails.

dave, It looks like scott and I are leaving saterday morning sometime and probaly be wheeling on sunday. we would like to get everyone thats going from az to caravan up there if possible, so if your planning on leaving around the same time let us know and we can setup a place to meet.

Actually I agree with you Dustin, my drag link killed over an hour..... but we only had 4 vehicles. This time we should have several more vehicles so multiple little (or big) delays are likely.

Thanks for the feedback Keith. I have been out running trails this last week breaking in my new Super Swamper SSR tires. Three easy runs and I am chewing them up pretty bad. I no longer rip the side walls I just rip the lugs/tread off of them. They are my Moab tires so I am keeping my eyes on them, besides they are brand new. Maybe I need to air down more, I run them at about 20 psi on the trail.

Dustin, what time are you guys leaving on the 4th? I am still open as to what I will do for the trip up to Moab.
