I've got an 89' Full Size Bronco with 351, 5.8 liter. Anyway, I've got a problem with the oil pressure, and the idle. When first cranked up, the idle is fine, and the oil pressure is fine. After driving for 10 minutes or so, the truck warms up(doesnt overheat, and the temperature always reads in the lower ranges), and when I come to a stop the idle drops (about 800 rpm), and the oil pressure drops all the way. So I have to sit at stoplight holding down the brake, and giving it a little bit of gas to keep the idle up, which helps keep the oil pressure up, but after driving for a longer period of time, the oil pressure will still drop even at 1500 rpm. Although the low idle effects the oil pressure dropping all the way, I believe it is 2 different problems. I've checked the oil pump, and replaced the oil pressure sending unit, but no solution. The truck has 80k miles. Only significant mod to the engine are Hedman headers put on after the exhaust manifold cracked. These may be effecting the idle, but can't determine it for sure. The oil pressure problem has gotten continuiously worse over the past year. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

bad oil pump, bad gauge, worn cam bearings, or worn bearings in the bottom end could all be your problem. the thing to do would be to start it up, let it warm up and pull off your your valve covers if you are still getting a decent amount of oil up through your push rods then you are still ok for now but if not then you need to track down the source of the problem and fix it asap
