Apparently Rob messed up his alternator and had to rig it while going out of town, so Josh drives out towards Lafayette to put the Bronco on a trialer. After they were up to speed the trailer staptted hopping around and eventually jackknifed and threw them off the road. Josh took some damage to the rear fender and may have lost a wheel and messed up a leaf spring. Not sure about damage to Robs unit though he said he was limping it to Lafayette. Josh had to have his towed. Josh's Father (an accident scene investigator) said the skid marks/ruts were worse than most fatal accidents he's seen, so they were lucky.

Maybe Josh can get 4" lift springs for the rear and skip the block setup?

Anyway, glad you two are OK. Let me know if there is anything I can help with.....

Apparently it is worse than I first heard.

Just got off the phone with Josh. His front bumper and driverside panel is messed up, frame may be bent, tire came unseated and both rear leaf packs are bent up. Passenger rear panel is totally pushed up as well..... so keep you eye out for Blazer bodies we can use to help him out....

Im over in Texas now. Man what a morning. As ya'll heard Josh and I had some bad luck today. I was leaving Baton Rouge to go over to see my parents before school starts. I had a new 150 AMP alternater in the Bronco the other day. Well is seems that they decided to over tighten the bolt. I got about halfway over the basin and my voltmeter started acting crazie. I didnt really want to stop on the bridge so I got it to Henderson. The bolt holding the top of the alt to the block broke off and the alt was hanging down on the axle. Well I give Josh a call and he starts looking for a trailer. In the mean time Im trying to rig it up enough to maybe drive it to Lafayette where I was meeting my sister. Josh rented a trailer and headed my way. by the time he got there I had rig it up with a extra air cleaner stud, a bugee cord and a tie down strap. Hey it worked.... Well since Josh was already there with the trailer we figured lets just trailer it there so nothing else gets messed up. If we only knew what was to come. We got the Bronco on the trailer and strapped it down. Josh took off up the ramp to the interstate and we both saw the trailer starting to sway. Josh lightly hit the brake to slow down but the trailer was in control. As soon as his right front tire hit the grass the Blazer and the trailer w/ Bronco were sliding sideways down I-10 and into the shoulder. The Blazer pulled a 180 and the trailer pushed us up into a fence. While we were waiting for the police to show up we tried to get the Bronco off the trailer. well the ramps wouldnt come out of the trailer because of the slope of the ground so we tried to just back the Bronco off. The back of the trailer was only about 6 inches off the ground. Well when my front tires came down my front bumper got hooked under the rails of the trailer and there was no way it was coming out. So finally when an officer showed up I was unbolting my front bumper. I got it off the the bronco out of the way. The bronco got a few scratches on the front fender from backing it off and I think I messed my tranfer case up trying to back off the trailer in 4wd. As for the Blazer I wish it was only that little. The trailer swung around and folded up the rear quarter panel all the way up to the fuel door, unseated the rear tire, bent the spring packs and the tow hitch. A fence post managed to weasel its way behind the front bumper from the side and ripped the bumper up pretty good when the tow drive driver pulled it out. Josh is kinda glad, he now has a reason to get a Blazer with less rust. After the tow truck got everything free Josh's dad towed the trailer back, I took it easy driving the bronco, and Josh rode with the tow truck driver who was pulling the Blazer. So no injuries but a lot of sheet metal damage. So everyone keep an eye out for a clean Blazer body. The bronco is no longer gonna be driven on the highway after next week. Jill's cousin cant afford the gas so Im gonna keep it for an off-road only truck. So I will be going over to Dubs to get the parts off the 79 as soon as work and school allows and if anyone wants the body, frame, and motor/tranny let me know. Im taking the transfer case and front axle. the rear axle is going back to Hans.

I'll be in Lafayette on Sunday to see if I can get the alt in the Bronco back in working order with the proper means and trying to figure out what is going on with the transfer case........
Josh is back in Baton Rouge in his other truck for the weekend to work.....

Yeah we are both Okay, I could careless about teh blazer at this point, I am a little sore as of tonight in my lower back but thats the normal back soreness I expected. Damage to the blazer is as of follows right now. Unseated rear pass tire, crunched rear pass quater panel, and tail light, twisted rear spring packs, another partially fawked 589 rim, trashed front bumper, bent front frame, bent front driver's side panel, possible axle damage, broken class V trailer hitch and torn frame....again the damage could be worst in teh drive train as teh trailer gave the rear axle a square hit and may have bent the rear shaft. I appreciate all of the support, again I am just glad we are okay, and we are lucky we didnt roll it. The trailer I rented was damaged to a unknown amount at the time it was a 5500lb trailer with twin 5500lb axles so even with dual axles we lost it. Also got sited with careless operation ticket. Really sucks but.....

SO here is my plans, save money look for a motorless, trannyless straight tub and swap my drivetrain over beside rear axle.....or a cheap high mileage straight body blazer.... throw a 4" lift under the nex body and the stock stuff on teh wrecked blazer and sell it for a few hundred as a hunting truck, keep your eyes peeled fellas! I appreciate it, we'll get it rolling again soon....

bot oh boy what a day and to top it off i closed at pepboys tonight tire and parts alone with no help, talk about hell in a hand basket! TONY

That wouldnt be the first time that happened. Been there done that. I guess they still havent posted the schedule for next week. Im gonna have to take a off other something to go get the new Jeep. I talked to Dub today he is doing pretty god except for the fact that he got in the 79 to move it and there are a few hundred wasps making home in the doors. He managed not to get stung even after shutting himself in the truck with them. Anyone up for working a couple of evenings over at Dub's helping pull the axles and transfer case off the 79????????
