Spoke with the guy from the Spillway today, he's is setting me up with a packet of info on how the ATV side of the spillway is run. From what I understand ....
The "trails" we ride on, er used to... were actually the ranger service roads. They need someone to design a plan for the 4x4 area that will allow people to use the new trails and help keep them off the service roads. After the plan is submitted and approved they will need a group to build and maintain the trails in a similar manner to the ATV side. He also said there are fedral funds that we could get to help maintain/build the area. Basicly they are looking for some people to organize and maintain the land...
He also told me that a few other clubs have contacted him about doing this and he is going to try to setup a meeting for us to meet with the other leaders and figure out a way to handle all this. So I'd like someone (prefreable in N.O.) to step up and be our "Ambassador" for this. This will be a great chance for us to get our name out and actually have a say in how things are handled out there. Plus you'll be added to the leaders list

I'd be interested in reading over the documents, being that this is a similar issue to what I will be addressing with my degree in teh near future I'd like to see some layout. I'd definately be interested in helping out.
Like you said having sources in New Orleans to keep an eye on things will always be helpful.....
Federal funding is always an option when dealing with federal land management, I hope myself and others can help and find time to help.
