More wrenching on my beater tomorrow..... got some bugs to work out. I'll post when I'm awake if anyone is bored and wants to come play....

Josh, did we maybe put a bearing strap in upside down er something? I know we put them on the right sides but maybe one was flipped? ... it's been a long night....

I'd think if it were a hub we would have been able to pinpoint a side at least....

Bring your gear oil ..... gonna have to pull the dang cover ..... again

The bearing caps should be stamped.. For direction and side..

Like with an A on its side on both cap and housing for one side and maybe an upside down A on both on the other side..

I have 2 disassembled 30' s over here and both where marked ... Along with the 15 or so I saw in the boneyard... I think It must be part of initial setup..
Like the pinion depth engraved on the pinion head..

Well, we pulled the cover and the straps were in right. Locker looked good, and we even watched it work with the cover off.... No metal in there everything looks good.

I'm really thinking that the noise is one of the hubs. I mean, even if the carrier was grinding the thrust washer, it only spins on it when the locker is engaging/disengaging .... so it can't be that.... right?

Might just order some hubs and swap them when I get a chance.... to see what happens...

On another note ... I can get a $500 cage for $350. Weld in, brand new..... I shouldn't pass on this right? It's either that or I skip buying the new hubs and go with the manual hub conversion (It's really expensive).... either way I'm about to go way over budget on all this..... gotta sell some stuff!

Got some new hubs from a secret source from a great price....

SO I'll be changing those out in the morning (Sat Morning) .... and then going for more test rides...

I thought we'd be beating on Josh's K5 Saturday all day but I think he is busy so I'll leave the WOT invitations up to him ....
