A buddy of mine just emailed this to me when he heard about the petition. |
Who told you this? It would seem illogical to close it to the trucks and leave it open to ATVs. I'd imagine more folks get hurt on ATVs then mudding.......

Definately, I think red creek is gonna run into similar sectioning going on in their park as well, ATV's and trucks with a semi truck's eyelevel don't mix, closing the truck side for a roaming ATV is unrational and illogical, if you will read further back in our post the reasoning was becasue of the 4th of july event out there lead to a large number of large trucks roaming land including pipelines listed as non-OHV use.... the maintainece roads were destroyed and the only way to regulate horseplay on a hard to regulate are is to shut it down...

A Buddy of mine posts on some ford site with what he says has "many" locals on it. I forwarded the petition link to him, and he in turn posted it on this ford site. Apparently somebody posted this response. Beyond that I don't know much.
I don't know how true it is. I do agree with you it doesn’t make much sense to close down our side for an accident that clearly was the fault of the atv. However, it would explain the sudden need to have an insurance policy.
I should be able to post a link to the thread tomorrow.

I wonder why a legal disclamer wouldn't be just as good as insurance. This would render the spillway not at fault for any incident which would happen

Ahhhh....America.... "Land of the Lawsuit"
All I have to go on is what the ranger had told me when I spoke with him. He only mentioned the destruction of the roads and the need for others to maintain it.... nothing about insurance or an ATV rider getting hit....
Carl? You have a chance to call them yet?

If we get the law change next session, this won't be a problem. The current law allows for land owners to allow ATVs with little concern for lawsuits....as long as they don't build a death trap or something like that....it says teh ATV riders assume inherent risk. When we change it, we will increase the weight limit to include 4x4 trucks. This should help drasticaly.

| Quote: | I got some good news for yous guys. Last night I talked to Greg Miller, who is a BIG DOG for the Corp. of Engineers, about us triing to reopen the spillway to 4x4ing. I told him that this club has been triing to get in touch with the spillway guy without getting any awnsered or return calls. He told me himself that if we do not have any results by Tuesday to call him and he will personally go to this guys office and make him call Patrick back while he is sitting in his office. This is Greg Millers office #,504-862-2310, He said to call him anytime you need to, he said he will make sure that we get results. Thought yall would like to hear this info. Oh, by the way, Greg is my girlfriends, boss's,husband. |
