Bertha is now 24 years old today so says the build sheet, so for her bday I got the hubs working. There is something kinda puzzling about it though. Remember how I said that the gear the dial engages wasn't lining up with the gear behind it? Well I also noticed earlier that the shaft didn't appear centered inside the hub, hopefully do to my shot axle pivot bushing. So I jacked up the right side of the truck and shook the tire as I pressed on the gear, and bingo! it slide onto the other gear, and I let go of the tire and it held the gear in place, I then re-installed the dial, let down the jack, and put that puppy in 4-Low low and behold I now finally have four wheel drive! my dad came outside cause he heard me since I have no muffler so couldn't really give it a good test without fear of the neighbors calling the PD, but tomorrow afternoon I'm gonna get someone outside to watch me peel out in the grass to see if the front tires are indeed pulling since I can't take it anywhere ATM, although when I install all my christmas goodies I'll see if I can borrow my uncles tow bar and bring it somewhere for a proper test

...my right tire is leaning pretty bad cause of that axle pivot bushing, I hope that's why the shaft isn't perfectly centered in there....now ya got me worried, see once I jacked up the right side and shook the tire while I pushed that gear the gear slide right on there.. what do you think could cause the shaft to not be centered?

Well, your wheel brearing should be centering the shaft in the hub shouldn't it.

Well I'm still learning about 4x4 systems but common sense would say yes, I'm gonna go ahead and add the driver and passenger side bearings to my list then, might even go ahead and change all the wheel joints while I'm at in depending on my christmas budget, thanks pat
