Yes Sir... I agree.

I believe it would be the best intrest of all of us to not become "competing" clubs and try to help each other out when we can, especially for things like landf use issues. Right now, we really don't compete for members or anything as they have become very Jeep oriented, and we are quite diverse. I'd actually like us to becaome even more diverse within the next year, so we need some sammies, dodges & yotas.... Anyway, they charge dues (which actually enables them to do some cool stuff) but we don't, which just lets people pay for whatever whenever & "just wheel". I think we are a lot tighter knit then they are, possibly due to numbers, but probably due to the fact that since we don't charge dues, people that might not fit in feel no obligation to try to fit in. I think there is a lot we can learn from them in terms of what to & what not to do with the direction of our club.

There are several of their members that I think are really "good people", and there are a bunch I'd invite to a kegger to have a beer with... and a very select few that I actually have any sort of problem with. Course if we had their numbers I might want to smack someone in here too . But I won't hold it against an entire club if they have a few arses ..... how would we feel if people had held the actions of a certain person I won't mention against us?

Anyway, I don't think that some of us not going to one of their events is going to make any difference to them... they already have the numbers and won't notice. But I do think it would be in our best intrest to show up to things like that. I mean, suppose a non member fullsize guy passes by and decides to stop, and all around him are Wranglers & CJs.... and one big Blazer, or Bronco or Cherokee Cheif... who is he going to go talk to? And I don't care if our members join their club either, just as long as they continute to wheel with and hang out with us when they can.

I would have to agree here. What confrontations are you speaking of?

Recently, I was treated rudly by a local shop owner who also happens to be a LA4x4 member. Josh was there, not saying a word & could tell that I was about to jump the counter and deliver all the arse whooping I can dish out. Situation was resolved favorably & without me loosing my cool, but I was fairly upset with the BS treatment & I won't be doing that person any favors.

I don't think Josh is tagging their whole group just from that though. I know his feelings of dislike also stem from a few of their members feelings/comments about fullsize rigs. I really wish he of all people would go so he could RTI his beast and shut any naysayers pieholes

If you don't like someone, fawk it, don't talk to them. If you think someone is an offroad retard, fawk it don't talk to them. I take a good deal of pride in the fact that I don't believe I know it all and don't expect others to either. If you show me the errors of my way I will gladly listen. There are egos everywhere, sometimes you just have to know how to deal with them. Now bring yer shit out and eat wings and drink beer in the company of some ladies, or stay at home. I, for one, am not going to stereotype anyone or exclude anyone. If you don't like the newsletter, join up, write an article and send it to me and I'll submit it. Proactive wins over non-active everyday. Look at the greenies taking our land from us left and right. Change ain't easy folks.

Couldn't agree with you more on those points, Just more than a few who have left a sour taste in my mouth as far as the club, by no means is it one club vs another b/c thats fawkin stupid, the worst of it is knowing and not caring that the trails being run are not fullsize friendly, telling Mr. H2 owner he'll be alright and now he's done 25grand of body damage from trees and other narrow areas he was tryign to avoid, trail riding is a risk but luring is stupid, thats another story... It'd be much nicer if all were united as one voice, not neccissarily one club ( diversity is good) = more equal opportunity wheeling land.

Not being an asshat but one day when i have a spare $25 to join I will fork my $ over just to get a article in...Maybe even make a run since my body is already not so fullsize friendly...hopefully that will be sooner than later because I feel a fullsize article would stick out like a sore thumb and probably get more attention than anything(proactive), I'm all about wheeling regardless of make model or type but I am picky about the enviroment i'm wheeling in --companion and safety wise.....-- Much like hunting ( I'm a big time hutner but some people will always wonder why i turn down their invites--I dont feel safe, which beats rec any day) I can name atleast one instance where 2bb much less another club I'm in had members who despite us at times wishing they weren't members were indeed equal opportunity members who did some not so smart or safe things at times on the trail.
I can't agree more about the pro-active statement and patrick and I had a brief discussion on this last night, A large turn out regardless would be cool for the 4x4 community we like our M&G to be nice and I'm all about making a statement in numbers might have to see who can deal with a few not so nice yuppies next weekend

Speaking out and new ideas spark discussion, discussion will start a change, for better or worst, that my friend is being pro-active

I appreciate the advice Lance and I will take it into consideration. I also appreciate the ability to voice my opinions and contrary to your interptretation of this thread, I think free discussion is vital for a club to maintain stability. Personally, I am not all that concerned about what others can do for me if I don't like them. I am old school, if don't like you I'm gonna tell you, thats why I am not ever going into politics or big business. I know the downfalls of this life strategy but it has served me and my family well. I am also capable of keeping my mouth shut, and will do so for the betterment of the club in relation to joiniung forces with other 4x4'ers. I hang with the guys here because they don't force me to conform or follow. I consider myself an independant member of a united group of guys that is wholeheartedly dedicated to helping eachother improve their 4x4ing knowledge and ability. I know this response is a little non-PC but I really don't like being told to 'be good so you can get a treat'. La4X4 would be lucky to get as dedicated members as we have here. And we don't charge fees, and can't even offer private land to wheel on. So, that being said, I will be there for the M&G at Hooters and try to make some additional 4x4ing friends that share my beliefs and dedications.

Well, glad to hear everyone feels as I do about being a United Voice. I am under no dillusions of the weaknesses of LA4x4. I get pretty worked up over some things that are said by some members and don't feel obligated to keep my opinions under wraps. I for one would like LA4x4 to be more representative of the 4x4 population in LA. The spillway was one issue I stood up for in the meetings but I was certainly outnumbered. But it didn't stop me from voicing my opinion. Land to ride, is land to ride. Terrain is personal preference, and not all have the same preferences.
