patrick, i agree 100%
heres my thought. for a trail ride we go land scouting. lets say we find ok land and the people look poor or whatever. we offer to cut trails into thier land and improve access to thier land. i think its win-win. assuming we find some land we can pay for use, and offer FREE labor to cut/move trees and such. i know there are some older people who cannot work their land and maybe every other month the runs could be a work day. im not against sweating or working. say OLDMANLANDOWNER GUY has no immediate family and the creek in the back of the property is blocked up by downed trees and there is nothing he can do about it. id be happy to ride my ass into the back and pull trees down/away..... |

like i told a few members on this board you can build a rockcrawler and put 100" tires with a 300 to 1 gears and arms so long the axles rotate 360 degrees... or a 20 foot tall nitrous burning mud bogger.........
the crap is just as effective at cortana mall as the land we currently ride on (none). thats why im not lifting my truck, adding transfercase doublers or anything else. to me thats posing. at least i haul stuff in my truck!
you would think the 4x4 shops would show more interest than they do......
we can talk about lifts/and other stuff till we die...... we need land

No Sh*t, you'd think they'd realize that if people actually wheel their crap, sonner or later they will break it and/or need to upgrade it. True we can do some wheeling, but it's all out of state, and if I break my stuff in MS or AR & need to buy something that far away then the shops here loose $$$. The more $ I spend on gas the less I have to spend here on upgrades....
Totally blows my mind that shop owners don't see this. Open some land... set up a shop near it .... Profit ....
You could set up a 100x100 yard field around BR and charge people to do donuts on it and it would be profitable. I mean, we're looking at driving to the Mud Hole past Lafayette... not saying it wouldn't be fun, but it's not like it's the most challenging terrain. Hell, I have fun at Holly assuming the crowd is right and that isn't really the most brutal terrain ... unless you go down the beach at 70 robcoughrob

Just got this from one of the guys in that 4 wheeler club at the spillway..(forgot their name.)
But anyway..
greg malon @ 985-764-0126
here is my understanding...
Your going to need to form a club, incorporate, get insurance, sign a
partnership with the Army Corp to maintain the site, and apply for
gov't grant money to PAY for maintaining it. who did all that work is
before my time, I just know thats what it took.
That is what the Trailblazers have done. Even with that, the corp still
like to hold the place over our heads if they get annoyed with someone
being stupid on the trails. As such, we have to be real a-holes to
people who are out there being dumb.
We had to establish riding areas, rules, and organize pretty much every
grain of dirt that is moved out there. The corp does nothing but keep
the gates unlocked. If the place starts to get outta hand, they lock it
down.
So I will call Greg Malone... And someone needs to see what we need to do to get incorperated if thats what it takes..
OR I guess we could waitand see what Greg says..

as i'm sure you already know hammond is growing at a rapid pace as well, land in the area still can be found fairly cheap but as far as playing on it will depend how far out of teh city you are

Springfield. I look around out her and Hammond is growing but, there is still plenty of woods within just a few miles. I saw 573 acres for sale up in Tangipahoa. I don't know any more about it than that. I'd love to have that kind of space but, I can't even afford to fix the a/c in my truck. But, it looks like that will wait due to the weather LOL. Glad to hear you're moving here that's awesome. Look me up when you get here. |
