So it's rainy here today.

I was pulling out into traffic, somebody was coming faster than I thought, so I got on it a little. Little tire slippage but by no means was I gunning it. No biggie.... Then my check engine light comes on. And now my truck is shifting pretty hard. Will rev up higher than normal like it doesn't want to shift (3500 rpm), then shifts hard into the next gear.

So what did I do this time?

doubt you did much, and sounds very unreltaed to the event besides the gunning it out into traffic, my guess is catalic convertor for it to just start somethign that random, probably clogged, if you are in the 60,000 mile range or even earlier (mopar thing) you may be restricting air flow in the exhaust, next time you run it for awhile get out and look at the cat see if its glowing red yet, O2 sensors etc......stupid computers

just off experience, my buddy's 97dakota clogged its cat, the tranny would rev, and he could barely reach 25mph, if it threw a check engine light drive down to the zone they do free diagonostic

Thought that would be it.. Mine did pretty much the same thing.. There is also a mod that you can do to the TPS to make your rig shift better.. All you need is a 3/16 drill bit. two small washers and a volt meter.. I can show you .. Its a simple way to give yourself a little extra ...
