DIfferent ring & pinon then what was in there ..... what was in there was totally loose & fawlked .... so how would I know how many shims to put in if it was an empty housing? Cause that's pretty much what I have. I don't wanna go off what was in there before cause it was fawlked up anyway...

It has been awhile since I did it, but I think if you are going to a lower ratio then it is less shims?? not sure. it is just trial and error. .010 thousands does a lot sometimes. try one put it together and check the pattern of the teeth contact.

Wouldn't that require me pressing the bearing on & off while I'm testing?

IT certainly would and that is a crappy idea.. Most places will destroy the bearing taking it off..
But you can dremmel the inside of the bearing a little to make it a hair bigger.. so that it will slide on and off.. IT doesnt neccisarily have to be pressed on it is forced in and held by nuts and the side carrier bearings are pinched in .. Mine where loosened up with a dremel so that we could get it right.. And I have had no adverse effects..

Just an Idea....

if you bought a low end CB any antenna will do, steel whip is preferable as it does send and recieve better and is flimsy when the trees try and rip it off. Fiberglass ones tend to break off when they come in contact with trees.

I said bottom end CB as I went overboard with one of mine and spent a little over $300 on it

I would suggest a fire stick .. Its cheap and its a good antenna..

If you want to spend money.. Get a K 40.. ITs a really good antenna and the top just pops off.... Patrick has one.. You can see it at the meet and greet if he makes it.

That is the way I did it five different times. There is a special bearing clamp that the inner diameter is tappered to fit under the bearing, b/c with shims ithe bearing does not sit flush on the pinion. but the I guess dremmel tool would work, never tried it. just don't take off too much.
